What Are You Really Paying in Property Taxes
As you can see in this week's graphic, where you live within our area makes a significant difference. Collinsville and Tioga sit at the top at 2.1774% and 2.1771% respectively, while Callisburg offers the lowest rate in the survey at just 1.375%. A $300,000 home would cost you roughly $6,532 in taxes in Collinsville versus $4,125 in Callisburg — a difference of over $2,400 every single year.
Valley View, comes in at 1.5974%, and Pilot Point checks in at 1.7291% — both well below the area's highest rates.
Keep in mind these rates reflect living within city limits. Properties outside city limits typically carry a lower rate since they don't include the city's portion of the tax. That's one reason rural and ETJ properties can look more attractive to buyers who are watching their monthly payment closely.
As always, knowing the numbers helps you make a smarter move. Questions? Give me a call.
